Born in Palo Alto, Michael Szabo graduated from Rhode Island School of Design with a degree in sculpture. His sculpture, water sculpture, and line of stainless steel vessels are featured in galleries and stores nationwide. Beginning with a surrealistic style of painting, Szabo's work became more figure-based and then abstract as he began working in three dimensions. In his sculptural work, Michael utilizes industrial materials such as steel and cement in alternative and exploratory ways, often yeilding forms that hint at nature's process of object making. Recently, his focus has been towards mid- to large-scale site specific works predominantly in metal. Michael currently resides and maintains his studio in San Francisco, California.
